Edwin Sigel founded Edwin C. Sigel Ltd.(ECS) as a sole proprietorship in 1962. The company was later incorporated in 1970. The first 15 years the company was located in downtown Chicago, and then in June of 1978 moved to the near north suburb of Northbrook. The firm has grown over the years to a regional accounting firm with clients all around the world.

Our traditional services include tax preparation and planning, accounting, auditing, litigation support, expert witness testimony, and wealth management. In 1988 the firm became a member of the private companies practice section of the AICPA in preparation for its first voluntary peer review. The firm passed its first peer review in August of 1989 and has passed every peer review since.

Through extensive work with a leasing client, we became experts in providing accounting services to the leasing industry. In 1998 the firm began to actively market these specialized lease portfolio management services to the equipment leasing industry. ECS is now recognized as the premier lease portfolio management providers, with numerous Certified Lease Professionals on staff.

Also, in 1998, our firm began working on website development for a client and in 2002 began a new division named Liventus. Liventus provides graphic design, corporate identity, website development, IT consulting, and application development. In August of 2004 Liventus team members successfully passed certification exams allowing Liventus to become a Certified Microsoft Partner as well as becoming Microsoft CRM certified.

On January 1, 2004 Edwin C. Sigel Ltd. changed the company name to ECS Financial Services, Inc. This change was made to better represent the broad range of services the firm provides to our diverse client base and at the same time updating our corporate image. Our services are constantly expanding to meet the needs of our clients.
